High school internship in Fécamp, Normandy: a collective immersion into career discovery
For two weeks, sixteen high school students participated in an immersive work experience across several companies based in Fécamp, in Normandy (France). Led by OLVEA FOUNDATION, this initiative is built on a simple yet impactful concept: a shared internship designed to provide young people with a broader and more concrete understanding of the professional world.
At this stage of their education, career orientation is often shaped by limited perceptions. By multiplying environments, encounters and real-life situations, this program helps expand perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of today’s professions.
A shared internship to explore the diversity of local businesses
Throughout the program, students were welcomed by a range of local companies from various sectors, including manufacturing, craftsmanship, retail and services. This diversity is a key strength of the initiative.
Moving from one company to another allowed students to:
observe different work organizations
understand the realities of the workplace
interact directly with professionals
This hands-on approach helps challenge preconceived ideas and offers a clearer view of the daily challenges faced by businesses.
This collective dynamic is made possible thanks to the strong commitment of local stakeholders, all sharing the same ambition: supporting young people in their career discovery and contributing to their professional orientation.
A final immersive experience at OLVEA
The internship concluded with a closing day hosted notably at OLVEA, designed as a synthesis of the experience.
Students discovered multiple work environments, visited the laboratory and gained a better understanding of the Group’s activities. The day also included interactive sessions to encourage engagement and knowledge sharing.
A cosmetic formulation workshop gave students the opportunity to move from observation to practice. By handling formulations and understanding product development processes, they experienced a tangible and memorable moment of learning.
A valuable experience for students
Initial feedback highlights the strong impact of this format. Students described a more dynamic and engaging experience, enabling them to better understand jobs and professional environments.
Beyond discovery, initiatives like this help structure early thinking about career paths. They allow students to:
identify their interests
confirm certain aspirations
explore new possibilities
OLVEA FOUNDATION: committed to youth and local development
Through this project, OLVEA FOUNDATION reinforces its commitment to youth career guidance and regional development.
By bringing together multiple companies around a shared initiative, the Foundation creates meaningful connections between the education system and the business world.
This shared internship reflects a strong belief: helping young people discover careers is key to empowering them to envision their future and build it with confidence.
